New Westminster will be hosting its first ever outdoor drive-in movie this Saturday night next to the Fraser River.
The Downtown New Westminster Business Improvement Society is hosting the event, which will be a showing of the 1950s tribute film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, Grease.
Come revel in the nostalgia. The film will be projected on a three-storey screen and FM transmission equipment will allow viewers to tune in and enjoy the show from the comfort of their vehicles. Those without a radio or vehicle need not despair; speakers will be strategically placed around the venue ensuring all can enjoy the music. Vendors will be on site to provide moviegoers with classic drive-in fare including popcorn, hot dogs and candy.
The film will be shown at the parking lot next to the Fraser River Discovery Centre, just off Front Street. The event is free to the public and there will be plenty of room for people to bring their own chairs, however, vehicle space is limited so come early if you want to drive in. The lot opens at 8:30 p.m. with the movie beginning as soon as it is dark.
