Burnaby Central forward Trevor Walters shakes off the check of New Westminster Hyacks’ defender Jonthan Dymdhal in the second half of their Burnaby-New Westminster high school senior boys soccer match, Monday at Mercer Stadium. Walters scored on the play. Central thumped the Hyacks, 7-1. In other games, Burnaby North beat Moscrop, 5-1, Alpha beat Burnaby Mountain, also 5-1, while Burnaby South edged Byrne Creek, 2-1. Cariboo Hill had the bye. South headed into a final game showdown for first place with North on Wednesday (after NewsLeader deadlines) with the Rebels holding a two-point advantage. The senior playoffs begin on Friday with quarter-final matches at the Burnaby Lake Sports Complex West. In the final junior boys games of the regular season, Moscrop beat Alpha, 11-0, and Central beat Byrne Creek, 6-3. Their playoffs begin this afternoon
