After missing the first two pre-season games, Burnaby’s Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has put up five points in two exhibition games for the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League.
Nugent-Hopkins, the first overall pick in the 2008 WHL bantam draft, scored twice as the Rebels downed the Edmonton Oil Kings 5-4 in a shootout in Stettler last Friday.
The next night in Leduc, he had a goal and two assists in a 6-2 victory over the Oil Kings. The Rebels finish the pre-season this weekend with games in Red Deer against the Kootenay Ice and Calgary Hitmen.
Nugent-Hopkins had missed the early part of training camp and the first two games due to illness.
The Rebels are also expecting another Burnaby native back in the fold soon. Landon Ferraro has one assist in three games with the Detroit Red Wings prospects camp this week.
