John Gallacher of Burnaby helped British Columbia win the team title at the Canadian men’s senior golf championship in Victoria this week.

Gallacher shot a pair of rounds of 74 to join with Gudmund Lindbjerg of Port Moody, Bill Wilms from Delta and Stephen Berry of Sooke to claim B.C.’s third championship for those who turn 55 by Sept. 1.

After three rounds of individual play at the Gorge Vale Golf Club, Gallacher was tied for 18th following a third-round 76 Thursday. The tournament was to finish up Friday.

In the super senior category, Gary Puder of Burnaby came second to American Tom Liljeholm, who had a two-round total of 154, eight shots ahead of Puder (76-86). His plus-18 total of 162, however, wasn’t enough to make the cut in the senior event.
