The Burnaby Girls Titans and the Cliff Avenue Synergy claimed Provincial Cup titles Sunday at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex West.

The Titans defeated the Coquitlam Xtreme 1-0 to claim the under-18 girls title. The goal came off the head of Kelly Cook from a corner kick by Becky Lawrence in the first half. The victory means the Titans will play for the national under-18 club championship in Etobicoke, Ont., on Thanksgiving weekend in October.

The Synergy will play for the U14 national title in Charlottetown, P.E.I., the same weekend. Cliff Avenue got a goal from Shayla Chorney with about four minutes left to edge the Tsawwassen Triple Threat 1-0.

Burnaby Girls United narrowly missed out on going to the U16 national championship in Sydney, N.S., after falling 2-1 to the SurDel Sting in overtime. Sage Rinaldo scored for Burnaby just a few minutes into the game, but the Sting managed to tie it up before the first half ended. SurDel's winning goal came in the dying seconds of overtime.

In the U13 boys championship final in Prince George, the South Burnaby Snipers were defeated 3-1 by NVL Capilano. The two teams had played to a 2-2 tie in the round robin.

The South Burnaby Spitfires won the under-14B boys title downing the Terrace Kermodes 1-0 in Richmond. In U13B play, also in Richmond, Edmonds United finished fourth after losing 4-0 to the Prince George Kodiaks on Sunday.

In U14 B girls, Cliff Avenue United came in sixth following a 1-0 loss to Terrace.
