Take in some thrills and chills at Metropolis at Metrotown through Halloween with its annual haunted house in the Grand Court.

Metropolis Mystery Manor is run by volunteers from Rotary Club of Burnaby Deer Lake which receives all proceeds to support its community and international projects.

Today (Saturday), all money raised will be donated to Rotary International’s campaign to eradicate polio.

As for the haunted house, “it’s definitely scary,” said Anne Blaine, the mall’s special events manager.

It’s not recommended for children under age seven, she noted.

“All members, family and friends including Rotaractors and Interactors of the Deer Lake Rotary Club get a big kick when teenagers scream their lungs out as they walk through the Mystery Manor and are met by ghosts, ghouls, corpses, witches and strange sudden noises,” said the club’s Pietro Calendino.

Admission is by donation, a minimum $2 per person.

Mystery Manor runs through Oct. 31 and is open Monday to Saturday between 2 and 5 p.m. and 6 and 9 p.m. On Sunday, hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.

• Metropolis at Metrotown is also running a Shop-o-Lantern Carving Spree Facebook contest.

Participants carve pumpkins incorporating the Metropolis logo, and upload photos of them to the contest’s Facebook site.

Grand prize is $1,500 in Metropolis gift cards. Details at http://www.metropolisatmetrotown.com/.
