Westminster Savings Credit Union earned its second consecutive Psychologically Healthy Workplace award from the BC Psychologically Healthy Workplace Collaborative earlier this month.
Westminster Savings was cited by the BC Psychologically Healthy Workplace Collaborative (BCPHWC) for its progressive workplace practices and commitment to employees during the economic downturn.
The New Westminster-headquartered credit union committed itself to no lay-offs, employee development and increasing benefits so employees felt supported and valued at all times.
That commitment appears to be paying off. Westminster Savings had a voluntary turnover rate of less than five per cent in 2008 and consistent high attendance rates and fills more than 70 per cent of positions through internal promotion.
The credit union employs 400 people who provide a broad array of financial services to more than 50,000 members and customers at branches in New Westminster, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, Langley, Surrey and White Rock. It also operates vehicle and equipment leasing services from offices in New Westminster and Calgary.
