The value of City of Burnaby building permits so far this year still lags far behind the record year of 2008, an indication of the impact of the continuing economic downturn. Through the end of August, city hall has issued 804 permits with a construction value of $231.55 million. The same period last year saw 1,250 permits issued with a value of $533.7 million.
In 2007, there were 1,072 permit issued worth $455.7 million.
