The corner of Kingsway and Griffiths Avenue is now home to Wings Pub and Grill, the latest addition to a Lower Mainland chain of restaurants (www.greatwings.ca).

Located in the former site of Pub Med, the restaurant is now under new ownership, and recently underwent extensive renovations.

Chandni Chaube, marketing and communications for Burnaby-based owner GoldWings Entertainment Ltd. explains what they offer local diners.

Q: What sorts of renovations have been done, and what changes will customers notice?

A: The renovations have been extensive. The entire interior has been redone to reflect a more sophisticated and upscale aesthetic. The biggest change customers will notice is the bar. It's beautiful, large, and inviting. The whole place is comfortable and clean, with granite tables and countertops all around. The aesthetic is comparable to a modern cigar lounge: relaxing, sultry, and sexy.

Q: What sorts of food can people expect at Wings?

A: Our food is modern pub fare. You'll see classic favourites like Beef Dip, Nachos, Fish & Chips, Rib Dinner, and Mocha Mud Pie to name a few, but all with our own signature twist. Our food quality is very high, while our prices are low. Most importantly, our menu offers unbelievable value. Oh, did I mention we serve award winning wings as well?

Q:. Does Wings have a signature dish?

A: Of course, it's our 20 different flavours of wings from around the world. They're often imitated, but never duplicated. We make it easy for everyone to get their hands on some by having a 39 cent wing special every Sunday.

Q: How and when did the Wings chain get started?

A: The Wings chain was started 10 years ago when one man said, "Hey, my friends and family need a place for fun, food, and drinks that offers great food and beverages at a very reasonable price." This man is the inventor, the creator, and the mastermind that brought us what we have today.

Q: How is the Burnaby location different from others in the chain, if at all?

A: The Burnaby location is different from the other locations in the chain because it is our first pub concept. Our other locations in Surrey, Downtown Vancouver, Abbotsford, and White Rock are all family restaurants. Burnaby, however, is licensed as a pub, so you won't be seeing any minors there.

Q: What sort of demographic are you targeting? Are young families welcome or does the pub aspect mean it's more of an adult-only place?

A: Our target demographic are adults between 25 and 55 who appreciate a safe, upbeat, and fun environment. As a pub, we will definitely cater to an all-adult crowd.
