When it comes to trash, Austria–the land of skiing, Mozart and The Sound of Music–is the world leader in the amount it diverts from landfills.

Metro Vancouver wants to be right up there with them by 2015, when it plans to divert at least 70 per cent of the region’s garbage through recycling programs, according to its new Integrated Solid Waste and Resource Management Plan announced last week.
