The Bowen Island Football Club (BIFC) is set to enter its third season with plans for changes that will include new teams, club director Morgan Quarry said.

BIFC reports they are now part of the North Shore Youth Soccer Association and as a result all players will be eligible to play in tournaments and exhibition games against teams from off-island. The boys U-14 team will play in the North Shore league as Bowen Island FC and they will play home and away games.

Practices will continue to be on Bowen.

Quarry said registration is underway at the recreation office at BICS and sessions will begin on Sunday, Sept. 13. The club offers programs for children starting at age 4 and goes up to boys and girls teams at the U14 level.

The club also offers soccer for men on Tuesday nights from 6-8 p.m. and a women’s program Sundays from 4-6 p.m. And for the first time, they say they intend to run a 6-on-6 co-ed adult soccer league from 6-7 p.m. every Monday and Friday. The co-ed league will go from Sept. 11 to Oct. 30.

For more information BIFC, asks that people go to the new Fall/Winter leisure brochure or check out the BIFC website at www.bowenfc.com. BIFC asks that those getting the registration form from the website fill it out and take it to the recreation office at BICS.
