Cottages are treasures that should not be turned into affordable housing

The Orchard Cottages should be rented out by the night or weekend to casual visitors to Bowen Island. They should not, I repeat should not, under any circumstances, be viewed as low rental housing, low income housing, or subsidized housing. They are treasures that, one day many years from now, people will see the wisdom in the eyes of those who preserved them. Allowing them to be placed in a pool for affordable housing disrespects the hard work of the Bowen Island Heritage Preservation Association. And in the effort to mend past ways, I recommend that the first cottage be re-named the Gary Davies / Gail Taylor Cottage.
