Mad Mabel’s Christmas is on the shelf! Both literally and figuratively.

While the dramatic production of Bowen’s much-loved Christmas tale was cancelled this year because of lack of venue, and waits in the wings for the wings to be built, Mad Mabel’s Christmas has found new life in book form.

Published locally by AIM Language Learning and gorgeously illustrated by Bowen’s own Adrien Deggan, the book tells David Cameron’s heartfelt story of an eccentric homeless woman who teaches a lesson in love and compassion to a misguided and selfish young girl.

The book launch for Mad Mabel’s Christmas is 3 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 5 at the Gallery in Artisan Square. Children and adults are all welcome to attend and enjoy refreshments and a staged reading of the book by David Cameron, Jackie Minns, Catalina Bernards and a very special appearance by Jazzmin Carson who created the role of Anna, the young girl, 12 years ago in the very first production of the play.

Copies of Mad Mabel’s Christmas will be available at the launch and at Phoenix Photo later this month.
