Salt shack adds to public works facilities

The Bowen Island Municipality has erected a storage facility for ice-melting road salt. Lower Mainland municipalities must now purchase a years' supply of road salt, making on-demand orders in small amounts an impossibility. The facility is on the municipality's public works site next to Bowen Fuels on Mt. Gardner Road. Installation of the cover arch began on Wednesday afternoon July 2 and was completed on Friday, July 4.
