First Credit Union offers first annual scholarship
Updated: June 19, 2009 11:11 AM
First Credit Union is thrilled to be introducing their annual scholarship program on Bowen Island. Every year starting this year, a scholarship will be awarded to a local high school student to help them pursue their post-secondary aspirations.
Two years ago the Bowen Island branch of First Credit Union opened its doors. In just two short years assets have grown to over $5 million. Based on these assets, the Bowen branch will proudly award a scholarship of $400 to one local student. As the assets of the branch grow each year, so will the amount of this annual scholarship. Scholarship selection will be based upon membership, family relationships and community involvement.
Graduating Grade 12 students can apply for this scholarship by submitting a letter outlining their academic pursuit and how they could benefit from this contribution. Letters can be dropped off at the Bowen branch at 475 Bowen Island Trunk Road. The deadline for submission is July 31. If you have any more questions, please contact me at the branch at 604-947-2022.
