The Chilliwack Bruins earned their first win of the 2009-10 Western Hockey League season Friday night, downing the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-1.

Chilliwack was out-shot 32-31, but received clutch goaltending from 19-year-old Mark Friesen.

After Jonathan Parker opened the scoring for Seattle early in the first period, former T-Bird Isak Quakenbush scored his first of the season at 11:39 to draw the Bruins even.

A pair of Ryan Howse tallies in the middle frame sent Chilliwack into the third period with a 3-1 lead, and Czech import Roman Horak added a late insurance goal to wrap up the scoring.

Howse, Friesen and Parker were named three stars.

Chilliwack is back on home ice tonight, hosting the Prince George Cougars at Prospera Centre at 7 p.m.
