Splashing Spartans
Chilliwack’s Spartan Swim Club sent 16 athletes to the Penticton KISU swim meet Oct. 16-18. The meet consisted of 300 competitors from around the Okanagan and Lower Mainland.
In the 12-and-under boys division, Grayson Bukkos swam his way to a fourth place finish in the 200 metre freestyle and fifth in the 100m freestyle. Carson Olafson powered his way to second in the 50m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 100m freestyle and 100m fly. He placed third in the 200m freestyle.
The 14-and-under boys division had Justin Awrey splashing to fifth in both the 1500m freestyle and 100m breaststroke.
In the same division, Dave Lavin came up with a first in the 1500m freestyle, second in the 100m backstroke and third in the 200m individual medley, 50m freestyle, and 100m fly. He placed fourth in the 100m freestyle and fifth in the 200m freestyle.
Among 15-and-over girls, Danielle Sundberg push her way to a sixth in the 100m fly.
And among 15-and-over boys, Jordan Torok fought his way to second in the 1500m freestyle, fourth in the 200m individual medley, 100m breaststroke and 200m freestyle and fifth in the 100m backstroke.
