Sharks sign Chilliwack goalie

Chilliwack native Thomas Heemskerk has turned a rookie-camp tryout with the San Jose Sharks into a pro hockey contract.

Before returning the 19-year-old to the Western Hockey League’s Everett Silvertips, the Sharks inked him to an entry-level deal on Tuesday.

Passed over in the last two NHL drafts, Heemskerk joins Everett teammate Kellan Tochkin as undrafted players who’ve latched on with NHL teams.
