The Chilliwack midget football Giants (3-0) pulled out a hard-fought 25-12 win against the Meadow Ridge Knights on Saturday.

After falling behind early, the Giants roared back, led by a tenacious defence and efficient offence.

Middle linebacker Dan Coffin led the D with several tackles, and Cole Herrman produced a defensive touchdown.

Running back Shane Grosvenor found the endzone on offence and kicker Brendan Scott addded three field goals.

— Chilliwack’s bantam Giants (2-1) pulled out a 43-6 win over the Meadow Ridge Knights, led by running back Steve Porcina.

The team captain rolled up over 200 yards rushing and four touchdowns.

Fullback Perry Ross also scored on a one-yard rumble, and wideout Alex Coupal made hay with a 50-yard catch and run.

The Giants D was led by defensive end Rob Vandenboom, who was in on several tackles and constantly harrassed the Meadow Ridge quarterback.

Safety Mario Narte was all over the field, helping to thwart the running game of the Knights.

— The junior bantam Blue Giants (3-0) continued their winning ways, rolling to a 27-0 win over Meadow Ridge.

Once again, Connor Herrmann was the dominant force on offence with three rushing majors, including a 50-yard burst straight up the gut.

Running back Brett Westad racked up impressive yards on the ground and was able to reach the endzone as well.

The offensive line of Josh Pretty, Diego Pineda, Zack Toews, Logan McCracken, Rajah Sandu, Malcolm Bobb-Wilson and Ross Doyle had a tremendous game.

Backs Clinton Boylan and Kirkland Kennedy made some excellent down-field blocks which allowed for some significant gains on offense.

Not to be out done, the Giants defense pitched in with two goalline stands. The D-line was strong all game while Hunter Larocque and Treyvon Walsh roamed the defensive backfield making some excellent open-field tackles.

— The junior bantam White Giants (2-2) scored early and relied on solid defense to earn a 28-19 road victory over the Meadow Ridge Gold Knights.

Filip Horak scored on touchdown runs of 20 and 50 yards the first two times the Giants offense touched the ball.

On the first play of their third series, Darius Commodore scored on a 50 yard scamper, aided by a tremendous block by right guard Colton Derouin. Horak later scored his third touchdown of the game, his team leading fifth of the season. Kicker Josh Fitzsimmons added converts on two of the four majors.

Defensive end Thijs Duineveld lead the defensive charge with eight solo tackles, three assists, a fumble recovery and a quarterback sack.

— The peewee Blue Giants (3-0) took a hard fought game against the Meadow Ridge Knights on Saturday, winning 18-6 to remain unbeaten.

Running back Tyler Sprott had a big game with 34 carries, 196 yards and three touchdowns. Jordon Breuker added seven carries for 45 yards.

The offensive line was solid again thanks to the play of Austin Penner, Chris Derksen, Noah Clarke, and Conor Mielke. The Giants also had great blocking by receivers Owen Eyres, Brandan Phillips, and Kyle Heisloot.

The defense was led by cornerback Connor Moore, who recorded two solo tackles, three quarterback sacks, a fumble recovery and an onside kick recovery.

On the defensive line, Chris Derksen, Vincent Giesbrecht, Darwin Biamonte and AJ Sagrott had 15 tackles as a unit and applied great pressure in the backfield.

Defensive backs Gabe Mannes and Spencer Breslin both had touchdown saving tackles in the second half.

— The atom Blue Giants (1-2) recorded a 19-18 victory over visiting Meadow Ridge on Saturday.

Tommy Janzen started the scoring with a one-yard touchdown run.

Lineman Hudson Harvey added to the lead with a 13 yard run, throwing a beautiful stiff arm en-route to the endzone.

Aaron Guliker’s spectacular 56 yard run stood up as the eventual winner.

The defense was stout and came up with a game-saving play on Meadow Ridge’s final convert attempt, with Riley Egan getting a hand out to block the potential game-winning kick.

Then, with Meadow Ridge making a last-gasp drive as the time ran out, Josh Roos made a shoestring tackle in the open field to ensure the victory.

— The atom Red Giants (0-3) had a tough day, dropping a 46-0 decision to the powerful Abbotsford Falcons.

The Chilliwack offence never seemed to click, and while the defence had a solid game, they allowed long runs on the Abbotsford touchdowns.

Colin Campbell and Garreth Connor were standouts on defence, and the offence received a solid effort from running back Matt Stevenson.
