Taylor’s in town
Published: October 09, 2008 6:00 PMMeet renowned sports journalist and author Jim Taylor at a book signing for his new memoir, Hello, Sweetheart? Gimmie Rewrite!: My Life in the Wonderful World of Sports. Taylor will be appearing at Sports & Stuff at the Chilliwack Mall on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 1-3 p.m.
Taylor’s memoir looks back at the fifty years he spent in the newsroom and the press box. His career spanned an era when columns were pounded out on typewriters on actual paper, the copy set in hot lead slugs and bolted into place in page molds before going to press, and extended into the age when computers could eat your copy and send it who-knows-where.
The book relives some of the memorable sporting moments that highlight Taylor’s career.
He was there when Paul Henderson scored ‘The Goal’ in Moscow in ’72, he drank beer from the Stanley Cup, followed Rick Hansen’s wheelchair around the world, and lived awhile with the Gretzky’s.
