Evans overpass makes life ‘easier and safer’
I would like to thank Mayor Sharon Gaetz and the council for following through on the Evans Road overpass. Not only will it relieve traffic congestion on Vedder Road, it has already become safer to drive on Evans Road.
With two clearly marked lanes, we no longer have to follow someone weaving back and forth, taking up the whole road. The big rigs that parked there at night and weekends are a thing of the past. The school is making a drive-through for safe pick-up and drop-off of the kids.
Lots of roads don’t allow parking and it shouldn’t be an issue. The mailbox needs to be turned around. Sorry, it would inconvenience the mail carrier. And there is a beautiful bike lane on both sides.
As an electric bike driver who lives in Sardis and commutes to Chilliwack each day to work, I appreciate every bike lane I can find.
Vedder Road is deadly. With bike lanes that start and stop at different intersections, I often find myself in a traffic lane with cars around me. God bless the drivers that pull out around me, stop and give me the right of way, and are patient.
I’m going as fast as I can. I don’t cause pollution, use no gas, and there are more of us every day.
So Sharon, a big ‘thank you’ for making my life easier and safer. We should have bike lanes on all major roads.
