A Sardis teenager says she was approached by a stranger and told to get into his car Friday afternoon as she was walking in the Tyson/Watson Road area.

"The victim did not recognize the man and so she walked away," RCMP Const. Angie Bowen said in a news release.

"The victim then took the right steps and immediately told an adult she trusted."

The driver was described as an East Indian with a green turban driving a newer white VW Jetta.

The Chilliwack RCMP is asking parents to remind children about safety measures while at school, or playing in local parks or other public places.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the 2:40 p.m. incident Friday, or has any information, to call the Chilliwack RCMP detachment at 604-792-4611.

Anonymous tips can be made by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or online at www.chilliwackcrimestoppers.ca
