Police have named the two suspects arrested Friday in connection with five armed robberies in Chilliwack.

Charles Keith Heward, 23, of Chilliwack is charged with five counts of robbery using a firearm, and four counts of disguising his face.

Richard Joseph Williams, 21, also of Chilliwack, is charged with one count of robbery using a firearm.

Both suspects, who are known to police, have been remanded in custody until their next court date in February.

Chilliwack RCMP continue to investigate the possibility that others were involved in the string of five robberies that started Nov. 21 and ended Jan. 14.

The robberies occurred at the Race Trac gas station on Vedder Road, Major League's pub on Yale Road, twice at a 7-Eleven store on Yale Road, and a Subway restaurant, also on Yale Road.

Dunlop said all the robberies involved the use of a firearm, which "posed a risk to the public and the employees who were working when the robberies took place."

"This type of activity is taken very seriously by police," she said.

Anyone with information about any robberies is asked to "do the right thing" and call the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611. Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or online at www.chilliwackcrimestoppers.ca
