If you dream big, you can do almost anything.
That's the message Canadian explorer Cameron Dueck had for some local private school students the last time he visited MEI Chilliwack on Young Road.
He was getting ready to explore the open waters of the Northwest Passage with a small crew in a 40-foot yacht, heading out in June from Victoria.
Dueck ended up documenting the effects of climate change over the months, and particularly the impacts on the Inuit of the Arctic, and blogged and broadcast his findings to the world along the way.
Now he's coming back through Chilliwack on his way back to his home in Hong Kong and will be reporting on his experiences at an open house event today.
"His primary reason for the trip was not just to study climate change, he also went to tell the story of the people," said Chilliwack resident Connie Harms, who is Cameron Dueck's sister. He's now working on a future documentary.
Dueck will be at MEI Chilliwack on Friday, Nov, 13 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. to engage students, staff and any members of the public who may be interested in a lively Q&A session.
