Bear-spray attack follows call for help

Two men who bear-sprayed a woman in the doorway of her Reece Avenue home after asking her to call police are being sought by Chilliwack RCMP.
Police said the two men knocked on the door of the home at about 4:30 p.m. Monday claiming they had been assaulted and asking the woman who opened the door to call the police.
"Before the resident was able to place the call as requested, she was bear-sprayed by one of the males," Cpl. Lea-Anne Dunlop said.
The 35-year-old woman was able to close and lock the front door, and the two suspects fled in an unknown direction.
"At this time there is no clear motivation for this incident, and the police are now seeking information from the public to help solve this crime," Dunlop said.
Police responded immediately to the incident, but could not locate the suspects. Several people in the neighbourhood were interviewed, but so far police have not been able to identify the suspects.
One suspect was described as a white male in his early twenties, about 5'7" to 5'9" tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black toque at the time, a dark, hooded sweater with a light shirt underneath and dark pants.
The second suspect was also described as a white male, about 19 or 20 years old, and about the same height as the other suspect. He was clean-cut and had dark "spiky" hair.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611. Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or online at www.chilliwackcrimestoppers.ca
