When Canadian Hockey League stars take on Russia’s best in this year’s 2009 Subway Super Series, they will do so without the aid of any Chilliwack Bruins.

A pair of Team WHL rosters were announced Thursday morning, with no local players in sight.

One team will compete Nov. 25 in Victoria and the other team will hit the ice Nov. 26 in Kelowna.

Among the players who will play on both nights: Brent Raedeke (Edmonton), Wacey Hamilton (Medicine Hat), Linden Vey (Medicine Hat), Mark Pysyk (Edmonton), Tyson Barrie (Kelowna), Martin Jones (Calgary) and Calvin Pickard (Seattle).

Chilliwack and the Prince Albert Raiders are the only WHL teams without at least one representative.

Team WHL was selected by a special committee of WHL general managers along with Al Murray, Hockey Canada’s head scout for the Canadian National Junior Team, as part of the selection process for the 2010 World Junior Hockey Championships.

The complete Team WHL roster consists of 33 players – two goalies, 10 defenceman and 21 forwards.

This is the seventh straight year that CHL stars have competed against Team Russia in preparation for the World Junior Hockey Championships.

The first two games of the series are hosted by the QMJHL with the OHL hosting games three and four.
