Barry Penner listens as Mel Dick, owner of RCI Solar Network from Kelowna, describes some of the green features in the power room of this show home on Saturday morning. The house is located in Solara Homes, a 102-lot development on Vista Place in Promontory Heights. All of the homes in Solara will have an Oasis Powerhouse installed in them which combines geo/solar thermal heating/cooling systems, solar panels and a wind turbine. The installation of the Oasis Powerhouse is the first of its kind in Chilliwack, and Solara is one of Canada's first renewable energy planned communities.
