A 45-year-old Chilliwack woman died Saturday in a single-vehicle collision with a hydro pole in Greendale.

Police are looking for a number of people who stopped to give first aid at the accident on Yale Road near Hopedale Road, but left before police could interview them.

Police said the Toyota 4 Runner was heading east on Yale Road at about 4:20 p.m. when it crossed into the westbound lane, and then corrected to avoid colliding with oncoming traffic.

"The vehicle went off (the) road right, striking a hydro pole," RCMP Const. Lea-Anne Dunlop said in a news release.

The name of the deceased was not released by police.

An investigation by the RCMP and BC Coroners' Office continues.

Anyone who stopped at the scene or witnessed the accident and has not spoken to police is asked to call Const. Tanya Blaschuk at 604-792-4611.
