A convicted hit-and-run driver confined to his home by court order was arrested Saturday after allegedly breaching terms of his conditional sentence.
Chilliwack RCMP said Mash was allegedly outside his residence and consuming alcohol on several different dates, contrary to sentencing conditions.
Ryan Mash, 31, denied the allegations during a bail hearing in Chilliwack provincial court Tuesday.
However, he was detained in custody until Aug. 11 when the allegations will be heard by Judge Russell MacKay.
On July 16, MacKay sentenced Mash to a 12-month conditional sentence. The first three months were to be served under house arrest at his Chilliwack home. He was also ordered to abstain from consuming drugs or alcohol, and to write a public letter of apology to the victim and to the community of Chilliwack.
The letter of apology was published in The Progress on July 28.
Mash pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident Oct. 30, 2007, when he struck 14-year-old Jeremy Westwood, who was riding a bike in the crosswalk at Brooks Avenue and Elm Street.
Westwood recovered, but suffered permanent nerve damage to his legs.
