Emergency crews were busy Tuesday afternoon tending to three two-vehicle crashes on Highway 1 in the span of about an hour and a half.

The first collision happened in the eastbound lanes between Young and Prest roads when a car hit a Pathfinder around lunch time.

As firefighters, paramedics and police were tending to that crash, a second one occurred in the same location but in the westbound lanes. A lookie-loo was checking out the first crash when she lost control of her vehicle, hit the wire barriers in the centre of the highway, and then bounced back hitting another vehicle, said one firefighter.

Shortly after those two crashes, a third one happened in the eastbound lanes at Evans Road where a burgundy sedan rear-ended a white car.

Traffic was backed up in both directions for several kilometers as crews tended to the three crashes.

No one was seriously injured in any of the collisions.
