Blueberry cannon rules tightened

The provincial government has tightened some of its rules that govern the use of blueberry cannon.

The agriculture ministry announced the changes last week.

The guidelines now mean that propane cannons can not be operated between noon and 3 p.m.

They must also be a minimum of 200 metres from a neighbouring property, instead of the 150 metres buffer that existed previously.

Single shot devices will be allowed no more than one firing every five minutes, according to the new guidelines, while those that release multiple shots can not fire more than 33 times an hour.
