The 7th annual Viva Las Vegas show returns to town with all the glitz and glamour of world-class entertainment on Nov. 14 at the Chilliwack Arts Show.
The Viva Las Vegas Goes Retro is a showcase of music from 70s superstars, ABBA and Fleetwood Mac, performed by tribute acts Arrival and Dreams.
"This year's show is our biggest undertaking yet," said Cris Schandl of Sonic Flower Entertainment.
An "upgraded" sound system, brought in especially for the local show will elevate the quality of the sound and the experience to "truly a world-class production," he said.
Both tribute acts have travelled the world sharing the much-loved music of ABBA and Fleetwood Mac, from the Dominican Republic, to the World Figure Skating Championships Gala, to gigs in Edmonton slated for next month during pre-Olympic curling events.
They also just completed a Las Vegas run which included opening for the original members of Three Dog Night.
"From the musicianship to the costuming and dance, Arrival and Dreams replicate the ABBA and Fleetwood Mac sound with dazzling energy and precision that sets this tribute package apart," Schandl said. "A memorable evening awaits."
The Viva Las Vegas crowd will be treated to the stellar bass playing of Chilliwack musician Ray Doucet, a former member of the band Derringer, who'll be performing a special hometown show for family and friends.
Other performers with local connections include the Superstars of Magic, former residents of Chilliwack, who now perform daily in their own theatre in Las Vegas.
Viva Las Vegas Goes Retro, Nov. 14, 7:30 p.m., Chilliwack Arts Centre, 45899 Henderson Ave., tickets $30 at The Progress office on Spadina Avenue or The Chilliwack Arts Centre, www.tributetoabba.com or www.tributetofleetwoodmac.ca.
