The walls of Evangeline's on Mill Street are featuring new works by emerging local artist Susanne Darius.

Regardless of the subject matter, she says her paintings usually manifest in a series because "the soul" of an image cannot be expressed in just one go, but must be fully and deeply explored.

The warm Spanish countryside has influenced the work by transforming and cementing her landscape style, but the mercurial artistic path sometimes leads to stunning rock faces with protruding sculpture or very modern representations of birch trees on a dark ground.

The show runs until the end of July, with the artist's reception, with hors d'oeuvres and beer samples from Okanagan Springs, on Wednesday, July 8, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
