Mission Hotspurs defeat Aldergrove

The top-ranked Mission Hotspurs soccer team picked up an easy win last weekend against the Aldergrove Wolverines, who were still looking for their first win.

The game got off to a slow start, but the Hotspurs got the first goal of the game from Jesse Harrington, a header off a cross from Dan Crich.

Landon Robitaille scored soon after, striking the ball right past the goalie, giving Mission a 2-0 lead at the half. Mission’s defensive core, led by Shelvin Krishna, kept Aldergrove from getting on the scoreboard, and coach Satu Krishna decided to give Eric Boer a break in net and put in Josh Lyons.

Harrington started the scoring again in the second half, sneaking the ball past the Wolverines’ goalie. This time Aldergrove answered back when a Wolverine player struck the ball and snuck it into the Mission goal.

Mission continued to apply pressure and Robitaille put another goal in off a cross from Blake Roberts. Harrington added another to complete his hat trick, which ended the scoring at 5-1.

Mission is now 6-0 and will be looking for another win this Sunday when they host the Poco Arsenal at the Sports Park. Kickoff is at 12 p.m. on field 5.
