Over $20,000 was raised July 19 at the second annual Mission Golf and Country Club Golf Fore the Cure event.
A full field of 72 ladies teed off under sunny skies. The nine-hole tournament was topped off by a golf ball drop from a helicopter over the ninth fairway, and extra spectators showed up to see if their ball would fall closest to the center of the bulls eye.
Langley’s Shianne Stangroom won the ball drop to take home the $1,000 prize.
“Our success this year is due to the dedicated efforts of many individuals, and businesses in our community. Breast cancer has touched everyone’s life, and people are very positive about supporting this event,” said tournament organizer Terry Rockwell.
The funds raised will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society for breast cancer research in B.C. If you are interested in making a pledge, or would like to be involved in next year’s event, contact Terry at 604-814-2666.
