The Abbotsford Outlaws ’95 Peewee girls fast-pitch team won the silver medal this past weekend at the Western Youth World Series in Everett, Wash.
The Outlaws matched up against Total Khaos in the final, a team that was undefeated in the playoff round, thus the girls knew they would have to defeat Khaos twice to take the championship. Monroe’s girls were much bigger in physical stature than the Outlaws’ and equivalent to an older first-year Bantam ‘A’ ball team. This scenario gave the sense of a classic “David versus Goliath” match-up. sThat being said, the Outlaws went into the game loose and played their best, defeating the Monroe team 5-3. Game two of the final was more of the same, however the Outlaws came up one run shy losing 4-3 in seven innings. Heartbreaking as it was, the girls demonstrated to Total Khaos they were a Canadian force with which to be reckoned.
