Community's heart and soul worth protecting

Every community has a heart and soul — Mission is no different. We are a gem of a community; a tight-knit city with hard-working people and incredible local businesses. I have been proud to live in Mission, having been raised here from childhood and, now, raising my own children in this beautiful town.
That is why I am upset with Randy Hawes and his Liberal Party’s potential shutdown of a piece of our community’s soul — Mission Memorial Hospital’s ER.
Do the Liberals really expect us to believe that closing the ER was not in the plans when the MSA Cancer Hospital upgrade was proposed? Did they think that the shiny new floors of the public/private hospital in Abbotsford would blind us long enough for them to shut down our ER without a fight?
With Mission poised to double in size in the near future, we can not afford to close our hospital, and force the sick and injured to travel to another city for assistance. Prompt, timely emergency care is not an option in Canada; it is a right we all deserve.
I am sorry, Randy and Gordon, but I will not stand for this plan. Your actions are putting me, my family and my community at risk, and that is completely unacceptable.
I urge everyone in Mission to stand up for our community and the well-being of our families. Please do your part and write letters and attend rallies; our community’s heart and soul is worth protecting.
