Every year Mission and the communities of the Fraser Valley are given a wonderful gift.
The Children's Festival allows families and children of all ages to participate together; sharing experiences, discovering new talents, creating artwork at an event that is entirely free.
The Mission Artists Association, with a generous grant from the Mission Community Foundation, are working on a mural project that allows children and artists of all ages to contribute to a perpetual mural. People from as far away as North Vancouver come year after year to paint with acrylics on canvas; linking themselves to the community through art. They watch how their work changes and how it becomes a piece of something larger.
There are now 51 canvas's, and we're hoping to reach 100. A big thank you to the Mission Arts Council and all their hard-working volunteers for organizing this amazing festival. It highlights all that is best about our community: the beautiful scenery, amazing talent, generous volunteers, dedicated organizations, and most importantly, the bright future it has in its children and youth.
