Trailer, house burned in separate fires

A trailer on Duncan Avenue was destroyed by a suspicious fire early Tuesday morning.

Mission Fire/Rescue Service was called to a commercial property at the bottom of Wren Street around 3:45 a.m. for an outbuilding that had caught fire. Flames were pushing from the building on arrival, but firefighters had it quelled in about an hour.

According to Chief Ian Fitzpatrick, it appeared the fire started outside and underneath the trailer, and it is being classed as suspicious.

On Sunday evening, a marijuana grow operation was found in a home at Ninth Avenue and Grand Street after firefighters were called there for a house fire.

Investigators determined the fire originated near the hot water heater, said Fitzpatrick.

Mission RCMP were at the home the following day dismantling the operation.
