The Clarke Theatre and Move: the company present Sold Doubt for one performance only on Sunday at Mission’s Clarke Theatre.
Move: the company’s founder and artistic firebrand Josh Beamish says he is excited to be bringing his new work to the Fraser Valley.
He has spent a lot of time in the Valley, teaching at various dance studios and conducting workshops for local dancers.
His new piece, Sold Doubt is a physical tribute to the music of the rock group, No Doubt. Set to the Vitamin String Quartet cover album, this dance studies the presence of lyrical melodies in pop culture.
It is “a visual feast” and features some of Vancouver’s strongest and most stunning contemporary dancers, said Beamish.
The wunderkind of the Canadian dance world has managed to blend together contemporary, ballet, hip hop jazz and even the martial arts into his work and everyone is taking note.
His promoters note that he is a much sought after choreographer here in Canada and in the United States, recently nabbing a stint at the Harlem Ballet Studio and is a regular at the Toronto Dance Theatre.
The show kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and the tickets are discounted for the Valley audiences. Dance studio dancers tickets are $10. Tickets are available at Jazz Ma Tazz in Abbotsford and Maple Ridge locations and Teddy Bear Dreams in Chilliwack. They are also available at the door.
“For those who dance, love dance, or just want to experience something wonderful, make a date to attend this event at the Clarke Theatre,” says promoter Bronwen Sutherland.
