CinB winners announced

The category winners for the 2009 Communities in Bloom competition have been announced, but two award winners won't be named until the July 23 awards night at the Leisure Centre.

The 6:30 p.m. event also offers attendees the opportunity to meet with provincial CinB judges Don Alberg and Rea Smith.

2009 Category winners are:

• Residential garden front yard

Winner: Deborah Prior

Honourable Mention: Heidi Smith

• Residental garden back yard

Winner: Kim and Lynn Allan

HM: Raymond and Sandra Paluc

• Service club project

Winner: Rotary Club of Mission A.M.

• Non-profit project

Winner: Mission Asscociation for Community Living

• School project - elementary

Winners: West Heights Elementary School Yes 2 It, Deroche elementary, Hillside elementary

• School project – secondary

Winner: Heritage Park Secondary School

• Churches and temples

Winner: Westminster Abbey

• Malls/corporate display

Winner: McDonald’s Restaurants

• Heritage project

Winner: Carolyn Dawn Good

HM: The Powerhouse at Stave Falls

• Small business display (residential)

Winner: Jo Priestley Pottery Garden

HM: Schuh Boutik

• Small business display (commercial)

Winners: Magnolias on Main and The Gold Bin

HM: Sadie Ann McMurray Antiques and Sistos Beer and Wine

• Strata developments and retirement residences

Winner: Kingsway Arms at Cedarbrooke Chateau

• Clean environment effort

Winners: Adopt-A-Block

• Industrial area

Winner: Storage for Life

• Vegetable garden
