Time to get growing

The McConnell Creek Farmers' Hall, having successfully risen from the ashes after the old hall burned down, are now planning to revive the Fall Fair this year.

The reason for making this announcement now, even though the fair doesn't happen until Sept. 12, is so people will have a chance to grow their vegetables, tend their flowers, can and jam their fruits, plan their baking, sew, crochet, carve and paint their crafts — all the things they want to enter and show off at the fair.

Only McConnell Creek residents may enter the vegetable and flower categories, due to their shorter growing season, but everything else is open to all comers. For category lists call 604-820-0620.

Entries must be delivered between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Sept. 10, and between 9 a.m. and noon Sept. 11. The fair will open at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 12, with prize ribbons awarded at 12:30 p.m., followed by an auction of any donated entries.
