Property owners facing a $5,200 bill after having their property examined by the district’s Public Safety Inspection Team (PSIT) are learning it’s not easy getting the fee overturned or even reduced.
Five landowners over the past few weeks tried to convince council to eliminate the fees after they remediated their properties. Everyone described the burden of the bill, but after reviewing each case, council only asked for one file to be looked into further and assess whether or not the charge could be reduced.
