Ladies golf team defeats Chilliwack in match play

• The Hope ladies golf team of 12 players easily bested the Chilliwack ladies team of 12 in match play this past Friday at the Hope Golf Course, repeating their earlier win on June 1 at the Chilliwack Golf Club. Top team points were garnered by June Lowe and Ernestine Franson.

• On Men’s Night, top scorers were Steven Wilson, taking 1st Low Gross, and John Law, capturing 1st Low Net. Alvin Towriss took 2nd Low Gross while Len Tweed followed with 3rd Low Gross. Stan Greening scored 2nd Low Net and Lou Kraszlany followed with 3rd Low Net.

• The Deuce Pot was shared five ways, with Kats Sunada, Bill Kelder, Steven Wilson, Peter Scherle, and Bill Swaine all scoring deuces.

• KP #9, 0-17, was taken by Bill Swaine, while the 17+ division was won by Peter Scherle.

• Bob Gledhill cranked out the longest drive on #4, 0-17 division, while Glenn Wejr hammered home the longest drive in the 17+ division.

• Bill Kelder captured a $153 skin, while the Lou Kraszlany-Glenn Wejr team thundered to victory in the Horse Race event.

• In the Senior Men’s Division, Kats Sunada captured 1st Low Net, Rene Girouard took 2nd Low Net, and Glen DuPre came in with 3rd Low Net. KP, 0-23 division, was snagged by Terry Leith, while the 24+ division was won by Rene Girouard.

• On Ladies’ Day, in a 3 Ball Best Ball match, the team of Charlene Kelder, Gabriella Kim, and Keren Hasell took first prize; while the team of Maureen Crimeni, Eleanor Collopy, and Julia Lee took second prize. Lois McConville bagged a hefty Deuce Pot that had been building for three weeks.

• The Evening Ladies Club had an excellent turnout of 18 players. Gail Teed took home the Best Poker Hand, while Marg Amyott won the Least Putts competition.

• Preparations are well underway for the upcoming BCGA Bantam Provincial Championship on August 20-21. Tournament Chair Keren Hasell is looking for volunteers for a number of jobs, including table setup, registration, and scoring. Standard bearers will also be needed. Anyone interested in helping out with this exciting event should call Keren Hasell at (604) 869-9522. Sign up sheets are also posted in the club house.
