What will we do when the paramedics go

It’s a scary thought that one day I may call 911 and be told, “Sorry, there are no ambulances available in your area”.

This could very well happen if this province does not shape up and start realizing that these ambulance attendants/paramedics and others are so underpaid that many are quitting because they cannot pay their bills. How many of you really know that while these paramedics are on a 24-hour pager call they only receive $2 per hour.

As a small community with a small hospital, we all know that any emergency requires transport to a larger hospital by ambulance. What are we going to do one day when there is none available? That day could very well come. They are on strike but forced to continue working, and God bless them all for doing so. It scares the wits out of me to think that I, or my husband, who is not a well man and has had to use this service more times than I can count, might not have it one day. I think we should all go to the website www.saveourparamedics.com and write letters that will be sent to the premier and MLAs, and also write support letters to the paramedics. They need our help!
