The very first beam of the new Memorial Park performance shelter is dropped into place.

Construction of a new performance shelter for Hope began this week with the arrival of the prefabricated posts and beams.
The Coast Mountain Timber Frames crew gently slid the first yellow cedar beam off the crane truck and into the metal posts cut by Ironside Design Manufacturing. The intricately cut beams arrived Tuesday morning, the first step in constructing the new performance shelter in Hope Memorial Park.
Jim Lasser, of Tri-West Contracting, who is overseeing the project, says, if all goes well and the weather cooperates, the project should be completed by next Wednesday.
The performance shelter is one of the final stages of the Memorial Park project.
The rock work on the cenotaph is also continuing this week, hopefully to be completed in time for Remembrance Day services on November 11.
