Hope Search and Rescue recovered the body of a missing pilot from the Fraser River this afternoon, just south of Saddle Rock, near Spuzzum.
The body was first spotted upriver by staff members of the Hell’s Gate Airtram just before the visitor attraction opened for the day.
Search and Rescue volunteers were assisted in locating the pilot by the RCMP's helicopter Air 5.
The body was transported by boat downriver to the coroner waiting at Corbett’s Landing in Hope.
Earlier this week Hope Search and Rescue volunteers were on the river assisting in the search for the man who went missing after crashing his Bell 212 helicopter into the Fraser River near Lytton. He was refilling his water bucket from the river.
Robert Christopher Woodhead, a 53-year-old pilot from Ontario, was fighting the Intipam wildfire near Lytton.
