Is your wood heating appliance producing too much smoke? Is there something wrong with your wood? What do you need to know before you install a wood heating appliance? How can you get the most heat out of your wood stove?

These are some of the questions residents can bring along to the Fraser Valley Regional District’s (FVRD’s) Free Burn It Smart Workshop.

The event is a part of the FVRD’s Wood Stove Exchange Program, and will take place on Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm at Chilliwack Fire Hall No. 1 (45950 Cheam Avenue - entrance and parking from Young Road).

Workshop topics include:

* Smart Burning Techniques to Maximize Efficiency and Minimize Emissions

* Planning, Installing and Maintaining a Wood Heating System

* Wood Heating Options and Firewood Preparation

The workshop will be led by Zigi Gadomski, a long-time WETBC (Wood Energy Technicians of BC) member and wood heating technology expert, and will feature a wood stove demonstration. Residents can also bring along a piece of firewood, and put it to the “Moisture Test”.
