The District of Hope is following the province’s lead and is declaring a ban on open campfires within its muncipal boundaries as of noon, Thursday, July 29.
On Friday, July 23, open burning was prohibited by the Coastal Fire Centre to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety. That ban included all area BC Parks, crown and private lands, but did not apply within the boundaries of local governments that have forest fire prevention bylaws and are serviced by a fire department.
