The Agassiz Mens Fastball club season is winding down and resembles the movie The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. The good was opening the season with three wins and since then there has been a lot of bad and ugly.
The ugly continued for Tuesday's home game with Five Star Flight who, needing the win pitched their ace Harvey Wiens, beat Agassiz 9-0.
Rob Woodrow pitched the loss for Agassiz against the hard-hitting Flight Squad allowing nine runs from 11 hits with three strikeouts.
Agassiz could manage just three hits off of Wiens with Todd McLean and Vanni De Bartolo, both 1 for 2 and Mike Chapman, 1 for 3 accounting for all three. Things improved for Agassiz on Thursday in Sumas for a tilt with Terry's Paints.
The 'good' returned as Agassiz played their best game in a long time to shut out Terry's six to nothing.Rob Woodrow was forced to pitch again in the absence of Agassiz' regular chuckers, Mindel and Goodwill. He threw a gem, shutting out the Sumas Squad on just two hits with five K's.
After five complete, Agassiz held a slim one to nothing lead, but exploded for five runs in the seventh to win going away. A balanced attack was led by newcomer Sever Raphael, two for three, and Mike Chapman, Chuck Pettis, Todd McLean and Doug Lennie, all two for four. One of Lennie's hits was an in-the-park home run.
The 'good' continued as Agassiz traveled to Mission on Friday to play the Red Sox. The balanced attack had every Agassiz batter getting a hit as they shut out Mission 9-0.
Fabian Goodwill made his return to the mound a good one, allowing just three hits and striking out a season-high 14 Red Sox batsmen in a dominating performance.
Offensively, seven of the nine Agassiz hitters managed two hits off of the Mission pitcher led by Levi Weaver, Doug Lennie and Steve Raphael, all two for four. Chuck Pettis, Jason Campbell, Fabian Goodwill and Rob Woodrow, all two for five with Woodrow driving in four runs.
Even scorekeeper Sal Duncan was pressed into service and recorded a 1 for 3 night.
